New area – new snaps

Hi there,

took some pics in the area where I live now, the first short trips by foot & bike were lovely. I especially like the converted buildings of the old convent, the old mill and the idyllic surroundings. They really did a great job by filling the buildings with an interesting gallery and shop, a restaurant, a venue for meetings & conventions, rooms for an adult school and some holiday flats and of course a little museum. The river which runs there is so pretty and all this lush green is so calming. As a real country girl, I feel very comfortable here and enjoy the outdoors, and sure don´t get tired (yet) of taking pictures of trees, rivers, meadows, cows, horses, more trees & rivers, old charming buildings and even more trees.

Just a few miles along the river, there´s an impressive sculpture-park by a local artist who´s been around here since the 70´s, named Wolf E. Schulz – he sure has a great body of work. And it´s an inspiration. He uses different kinds of wood and combines it with metal, I find his creatures really wonderful.

Walkies with some views – snaps transformed encore

Hi there – long time no see, I know.

Took quite a few walks recently, and enjoyed taking some pics & playing around a bit with the colors and structures. I was especially enchanted by the sunlight shimmering through the leaves, creating a subtle luminous and dreamy atmosphere which I found incredibly calming.

There is a new mixed media painting in the works, which I might post as work-in-progress update in the near future…we´ll see how it goes.

Hope you all enjoy the glorious spring weather.

wip 2: mixed media painting progress

So this is how it looks like at present…I added a bit of glam. No way to take a proper picture though…

Feels almost finished, but not quite. Might turn it around completely…

Have a good week, dear readers 😉

Work-in-(slow)-Progress: some mixed media paintings

So, even though I am enjoying the “Golden October” with many walks and photography, I also have some mixed media artwork in the making…slow progress with many stopps in between, but still… Here´s how the two pieces look at present. I like both of them with their structures and colors and hope to get on with them a bit faster and easier, but experience shows: you cannot force such things…ah, well.

#1: working title “Treasure Chest”

# 2: working title “Blue Islands”

One done: Mixed media work “color puzzle” finished

G´day to you, dear readers!

So this piece is finally finished. I had to restrain myself because one could actually go on and on and on, adding one more colorful scrap of paper and another one as the process is quite hypnotic and really fun.

But it is enough now, and I am content with the result…

…and so is my beloved dog Miles Mulligan III 😉

Have a nice week with lots of sunshine.

Another wip: mixed media collage in the making

Hi,

so this is another piece of work in progress while “space jungle” is propped up at the easle to look at and contemplate how to go on… This one – working title “color puzzle”- is another one of those upcycled ones put away and pulled up again, somehow that seems to fit my mood these days and trigger my flow. And I still am fond of layering. Well, we´ll see how this one progresses…I do like to have two or more artsy projects in the making to get inspired by one when working on the other, and to combat getting stuck alltogether (which usually happens at one point).

I wonder when I feel like sculpting again?! 🙂

Have a good week.

Mixed media endeavours – one finished, one in progress

Hello dear readers,

as predicted, my latest mixed media collage did not take long to finish. I added some (pieces) of leaves and some more subtle layers of paper and paint. I am quite content with the end result even though the colours suggest autumn rather than the upcoming spring – but I feel, with the fiery lively red, it sure will do.

“fragile” / mixed media collage. 25x25cm

This one, with the working title “space jungle”, is another piece started some time ago, put aside, worked on a bit, put aside and so on… I get back to it in between, add scraps and paint, let it rest …not the easiest painting I worked on so far, we´ll see where it goes. It´s 50x60cm, so quite a bit of “space” to cover.
