So far, the nearby lake is my favorite spot to indulge in beautiful colors and smells of nature. Only about 20 minutes walking distance from my place, I enjoyed a thorough photo-session even though the weather was a bit tricky…cast over and wet. Ah well, as soon as there is another clear sunny day I´m off to that place again. Took a snack and a bottle of hot tea with me and really had a blast being surrounded by dense trees and glorious autumnal colors & smells. The trees around the lake are wonderful, those next to the water look almost like mangroves, their roots holding on to the land fiercely.
So today I made another bike tour with just a tiny bit of planning where to go – which turned out just perfect (again) and took me just a few minutes down one of the main roads (which also offers nice views with pretty farmsteads and estates surrounded by impressive old trees) and then a few short turns to come across a wooden bridge onto some lovely lonely pathway along a little rivulet to a hidden lake I spottet on the other side. Fortunately it was easy to access and I enjoyed the glorious sunshine on the quiet water under the shadow of some birch trees. All the area is a nature reserve, so the lake is left alone by boating&bathing people. A wonderful spot for a picnic. I feel lucky to live in such an (almost outrageous) idyllic place where it takes me only a few minutes to reach such a vast and really beautiful recreation area with hundreds of walking and biking ways through moorish landscapes and (almost) wilderness. And sooo few people, I love it. Once in a looong while one might meet a group of fellow cyclists or people walking their dog(s) but most of the time one can enjoy the solitude out in nature.
took some pics in the area where I live now, the first short trips by foot & bike were lovely. I especially like the converted buildings of the old convent, the old mill and the idyllic surroundings. They really did a great job by filling the buildings with an interesting gallery and shop, a restaurant, a venue for meetings & conventions, rooms for an adult school and some holiday flats and of course a little museum. The river which runs there is so pretty and all this lush green is so calming. As a real country girl, I feel very comfortable here and enjoy the outdoors, and sure don´t get tired (yet) of taking pictures of trees, rivers, meadows, cows, horses, more trees & rivers, old charming buildings and even more trees.
Just a few miles along the river, there´s an impressive sculpture-park by a local artist who´s been around here since the 70´s, named Wolf E. Schulz – he sure has a great body of work. And it´s an inspiration. He uses different kinds of wood and combines it with metal, I find his creatures really wonderful.
here again some new pictures from my recent walkies which were just wonderful – I enjoy the autumnal colors of nature, the crisp fresh air and the wildlife sightings along the way. Accompanied with one of the three adorable Alaskans, I cannot wish for better saturday mornings. 2 hours of steady and quick walking – obviously with some photo stops (and some cuddles) – and the weekend can start.
happy new year to you! I hope you stepped into 2017 with a fresh mind and healthy attitude. New beginnings, new chances coming up to make life more interesting, more creative and more inspiring 😉
My creative endeavours lately included lovely walkies where I took some new pics for my ongoing series “snaps transformed”. Have a look and tell me what you think. I stayed true to my priorities here: take a quick snap of what you fancy without too much thought, pick those photos you like most and just zoom them through some fun transformations. For me, it´s always a real good tool to get back into a more serious and regular creative routine. So here they come.
I´ve been out and about again, enjoying outdoors. Here are some of the snaps I transformed.
The first part is from a nice town in north-western Germany, Oldenburg, with a really well-preserved castle and a lovely shopping area, it has a slightly nostalgic “country-side-townish” atmosphere with cute little oldfashioned cafés and nice arts´n-crafts-shops. An enjoyable place.
I took these out in the country, during my various “wonderous walkies”.
